Section 1: Short title, extent and commencement.

(1) This Act may be cited as the Jammu and Kashmir Excise Act, 1958.

(2) It extends to the [whole of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir].

(3) It shall come into force in any local area within the said territories to such extent and from such date as the [ Government of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir] by notification shall direct.
