FUNCTIONS OF DEANS OF SCHOOLS OF STUDIES (AetS127(lK«dSWito.7(3)} , % In exercise of dw powers .vested in Section 27(1X«D A Statute 7(3) qf the University Act, dw Executive Council, on the (hrdfoaqqe proposed by foe Academic Council, hereby makes foe following Ordinance regarding Deans of Schools of foe University.
1. The Dean of a School shall be the Head of the School ' and shall be responsible for the conduct and maintenance of standards of teaching and research in the School. He shall be the Chairman and Convener of the Board of foe School.
£ The Ddah shall have the following powers and (tj To co-ordinate and generally supervise the teaching and research work in the School forough the Head of Departments/Centres;
(b) To take steps to promote inter-disciplinary teaching and research, wherever necessary;
(c) lb keep a record of the evaluation .of sessional work and of foe attendance of the students at lectures, tutorials, seminars or practical* wherever ■' *'. these are prescribed;
(d) lb arrange for the examination of the University in respect of the students of the School in accordance with such directions as may be given by the Board of Schools of studies of the Academic Council

c. maintain discipline in foe class rooms and laboratories through teachers;

1. A distinguished scholar who is either in ictive service or on . superannuation may be considered. for appointment as Honorary Professor by foe Executive Council on foe recommendation of the Dean of the School or Vice-Chancellor ' £ The duration of appointment shall be 3 years.
3. Honorary Professors will not be paid any salary cr remuneration. However, he/she will be provided local hospitality and travel expenses from the dace of his/ . her residence to the University and bade whenever he/she visits the University for delivering lectures and for participating in any other academic activity of the School.

1. A Professor who has retired from the University may be invited by the Executive Council to continue his/ hec research/teaching activities in the University as an Emeritus Professor after his/her superannuation.
2 Jh e duration of appointment shall be 3 years yvith a - provision for renewal. . - .
3, The Emeritus Professor will not be paid any salary or remuneration.
4. He/she will be provided office space and other facilities to can * out his/her research/teaching activities during / his/her tenure.
A ppo in tm en t of exam iners and moderators [Act S. 27(g) Statute 13(2)(xHi)T In exesrcise of the powers vested in Section 27(g) Statute 13(2)(xiii) of the University Act, the Executive Council, on the Ordinance proposed by the Academic Council, hereby makes the following Ordinance regarding appointment of examines and moderators of the University.
1. The list of the examiners and Moderators for. all examinations, except for Ph.D. degree shall be drawn up by tiw Board of Studies and submitted to die School of Studies concerned. The School of Studies shall scrutinize the list and forward the same to the Executive Council for approval in consultation with die Academic Council,
2. The Examiners for Ph D. Degree shall be appointed by die Executive Council in consultation with Academic Council on die recommendation of die School Board j , ofthe School concerned. „ .
I 3. The question papers for examination .in each subject of studies offered by die University shall be moderated by a committee consisting o f:
a. Head of die Depaiinent concerned; and b. Not less than one and not more than two other persons appointed by die Vice Chancellor for (he purpose.
Provided that one of the Moderators may be an Exapiiner in the concerned examination not engaged in teaching in the University. , i 4. The question papers shall be moderated in accordance with the regulations;

If a Board of Examiner* sets a question paper and evaluate* the answer books, each external exam iner shall be paid full remuneration specified in Columns (II), (III) above.
