The professions of medicine and surgery, phartnacy, architecture and larv. in lndia, are al l regulated by larv for effective functioning. With the increasing globalization and competit iveness, framing of appropriate regulations in the f ield of Engineering profession has hecome imnerat ivc on account of ch: ! lenges, ' . ' . 'h ich the Ind ian engineers " " ' i l l ha"c lo encounter globally in the near future. In the National context also, such a step rvould be r:seful to ensure quali ty, eff iciency and transparency in engineering profession.

AICTE has alrelrdy undertaken rvith the responsibi l i ty of accreditat ion of cngineering educational progranrs t luough National Board of Accreditat iott (NBA) Registration and Licensing is a logical extension of the tasks already beirtg carried out by the AICTE.

I OBJECTIVES :

l . The principal object to create NITRLB is for providing registration to the Enginecring graduates from the recognized insti tut ions attd to issue l icenses for the practice of profession to the desir ing engineers in India with a vierv to etr l tance the level of proficiency and ethics in the practice of Engineering profession in the country.

2. h-or the purpose of carrying out the above object, the council will establish National Engineers' Registration and Licensing Board (NERLB) in order to streamline t l te process of the registration of engineers / professional engineers and related lnatters.

PRINCIPLB FUNCTIONS OF NERLB :

NERLB shall carry out the follorving activities in furtherance of the above object :

1 . RegLtration of Engineers (discipl ines and the levels to be decir led by NERLB) Licensing of Engineers (discipl ines and the levels to be decided by NERLB) 3-
