Government of India Ministry of Health Dated the 3'd March' 1958 NOTIFICATION ALL INDIA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES RULES 1958; G.S.R. 135: In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 28 of the All India lnstitute of Medical Sciences Act, 1956 {25 of 1956) read with the Provision to sub-section (l) of that Section, the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:
1. Short title and commencement:
(1) These rules may be called the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Rules
1958.
2. Definitions: In these rules, unless the context otherwise required
(a) "Act" means the All India lnstitute of Medical Sciences Act, 1956 {25 of 1956);
(b) "Director" means the Director of the Institute;
(c) "Government" means the Central Government;
(d) "President" means the President of the Institute;
(e) "Section" means a section ofthe Act.
3. Nomination of representatives of Medical Faculties: For the purpose of nomination of members under clause (fl of Section 4 of the Act, the Vice-Chancellor of every Indian University having medical faculty may recommend one person from the medical faculty of the University. From among the persons so recommended the Central Government shall nominate four persons to be members of the Institute having due regard to different disciplines.
4. FiUing up of casual vacancies: Any casual vacancy in the office of members other than ex-ofhcio member shall be nlled by nomination or election, as the case may be, in accordance with the provision of Section4.
5. Allowances of President and Members:
(1) The President or any member shall not be entitled to any allowance or other remuneration. He may, however, draw the travelling and daily allowances, if any, to which he may be eligible under the regulations framed under Section
29. (21 Nothing in sub-rule (1) shall apply to the Director who may draw the salary and allowances attached to the post of Director.
6. Standing Finance Committee:
(t ) There shall be constituted a Standing Finance Committee which shall include member representing the Ministry of Finance. The Institute may also constitute any other standing or ad hoc committee in accordance with subsection (5 of Section 10. 12) The following matters shall be referred to the standing Finance Committee which shall "cl""ia"t if'"^ and make its recommendations thereon ' namely:

8. Budget Estimates: The Annual Budget showing the estimated- receipts and expenditure of' the institute shall be prepared ;;";; p"tt" i" such form ^" tt'"y be laid down by the Government ..ra "n"ir -u. 11. Anaual Report: The annuai report referred to in Section 19 shall relate to the year ending with 31"t March of eacli year and be submitted to the Government together with 50 spare copies thereof, not later than the 31* August following' L2. Returns: The Institute shall furnish to the Government returns and information in such form and manner as may be required by the Government. *13.
