"FT. ft. 730 (*T) ^TT^T 10-12-91 MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (Department of Health) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 30th April, 1992 G.S.R.445(E).—Whereas o draft of ceirtain rules further to amend the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, was published as required by sections 12 and [*TF1 II—W3 3( i )] I f T r T[ TT&TZt : m\\i\TVf 33 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. 1940 (23 of 1940), with the notification of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Department of Health) No. GSR 492(E) dated the 25th July, 1991 in the Gazette of India, Extraordin ary Part II. Section 3, Sub-section (i) , dated the 25th July, 1991 inviting the objections and sugges tions from all persons likely to be allected thereby before the expirj/ of period of thirty da>s from the date on which the coipes ol1 the Gazette were made available to the public; And whereas the copies of the Gazette were made available to the public on the 11-9-1991; And whereas no objections' and suggestions were received from the public on the said draft rules by the Central Government; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers confer red by sections 12 and 33 of the said Act, the Central Government, after consultation with the Drugs Techni cal Advisory Board, hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Drugs and CbsmeMcs Rules. 1945, namely :—
1. (1) These rules may be allied the Drugs and Cosmetics (Second Amendment) Rules, 1992.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in thy Official Gazette.
2. In the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945—
(1) For the proviso to sub-rule (1) of rule 3A„ the following proviso shall be substituted, namely :— ''Provided that the functions of the Direc tor in respect of Oral Polio Vaccine shall be exercised by the Deputy Director and Head of the Polio Vaccine Testing Labora tory in case of Central Research Institute, Kasauli only".
(2) After sub-rule ( I ) of rule 3A the following sub-tule shall be inserted, namely :— "(1-A) The functions of the Laboratory in respect of Oral Polio Vaccine shall be carried out by the following Institutes and the functions of the Director in respect of the said drugs shall be exercised by the Director of the respective Institute :—
(a) Pasteur Institute of India, Conoor.
(b) Enterovirus Research Centre (Indian Council of Medical Research), Haffkine Institute Comnound, Parel, Bombay-400012. [No. X. 11014J5I89-DMS&PFA] R. S. LAMB A, Jt. ,Secy.
