The Andaman and Nicobar Poisons Rules, 1959Union territory Rules of Andaman and Nicobar Islands · 1919

(i) These rules shall be called the Andaman and Nicobar Tslands Poisons Rules, 1959.

(ii) They éxtend to whole of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

(iii) They shall come into force at-once.

2. «The Act” means the Poisons Act, 1919.

3. The following: poi.séns shall be deemed to be poisons for the purposes of these rules:—

(a) -Aconite. i

(b) Nux Voniica

(c) Perchloride of Mercury—Corrosive Sub-limate (Darchikna).

(d) Mercurous Chloride—Calomel (Ruskapur).

(e) Cynide of Potash.

(f) Stramonium (Dhatura).

(g) White arsenic (Sankhya—Sankhya Safaid).

(h) Yellow, red or brown arsenic' (Sankhya Surkh or Mansil).

(i) Black arsenic (Kala Sankhya or Sankhya Siyah)

(j) Paraphenjlonediamin.

(k) Tebra ethyl lead (ethyl finid).

(1) Rough on Rats.

(m) Sodinm Cyanide.

(n) Insecticide.

1. Parathion,

9. Tetraethyl Pyrophosphate.

3. Rodenticides.

(o) Alpha-naphthyl—Thiouren.

(p) Fungicides.

. Ethoxy ethyl Mercary Chloride.

. Ethyl Mercury Phosphate.

. Phenyl Mercury Urea.

. Pheynl Mercurie Acetate and Phenyl Mercuric Chloride, exeepting substances containing less than the equivalent of 0.2 per cent weight in weight, of Mereury (Hg). v {q) Fumigants,

1. Methyl Bromide.

2. Cynides, 27z the following:— Liquid Bydrocyanic Acid.

Sodium Cyanide.

Potassium Cyanide.

Calcium Cyanide.

{r) Preparation.

1. Any preparation containing any of the aforesaid poisons.

4. No persons, not exempted under the provisions of the Act, shall sell or possess for sale any poison specified in Rule 8, except under a licence granted in that behalf by the District Magistrate.

5. The grant or withdrawal of license to any applicant shall be at the discretion of the District Magistrate whose decision thereon shall be fim}i . 6. Subject to the provisions of Rules 7 and 8, a license granted under Rule 4 shall remain in force for one year from the Ist January or the date of issue, if later than the st January to the 31st December following. Every applicant for the grant or renewal of a license shall make a written application to the District Magistrate, and such application shall hear court fee stamp of Re. 1/-.

7. A license shall terminate on the death of the license-holder, or, if granted to a firm or Company on the winding up or transfer of the business of such Firm or Company.

8. The District Magistrate may for any sufficient cause revoke or cancel any licence granted under Rule 4. 7 -

9. BEvery sale of poison shall so far as possible be canducted by the license-holder in person, or, where the license-holder is a Firm or a Company, through, or under the supervision of an accredited representative of such Firm or Company.

10. A license-holder shall not sell any poison to any person unless the latter is personally kinown to him, or identified to his satisfaction. He shall not sell any poison to any person who agpem to be under the age of 18 or any person who does not appear to him to he in full possession of his faculties, or to any wandering medicent.
