Section 31: Import by land or river of arms and amnmniton

(I) Where a licence is granted in Form XVI and the articles are consigned to an area not on the frontier of India, a copy of the licence shall forthwith be sent by the authority granting it to the Government of the Stale concerned or the District Magistrate having jurisdiction over the area in which they cross such frontier; and the State Governmcnt/District Magistrate may in ils/his discretion require the licensee to produce the arms or ammunition for its/his inspection before allowing the same to be taken out.

(2) Where arms or ammunition are imported by rail, a copy of the licence shall forthwith be sent by the authority granting it to the railway authorities at the place to which such arms or ammunition arc consigned.
