Section 20: Penalties

The Assam Ancient Monuments and Records Act, 1959State Act of Assam · Act 25 of 1959

Whoever-

(i) destroys, removes, injures, alters, defaces, imperils or misuses a protected monument, or

(ii) being the owner or occupier of a protected monument, contra­ venes an order made under sub-section (1) of section 8 or under sub-section (1) of section LO, shall be punishable with imprison­ ment which may- extend to three months, or with fine which may exterul to five thousan::l rupees, or with both. ,
