GOVERNMENT OF ASSAM ORDERS BY THE GOVERNOR LEGISLATIVE DEPARTMENT : LEGISLATIVE BRANCH NOTIFICATION The 11th May 1990 No-LGL.168/89/31- —The following Act of the Assam Legislative Assembly which received the assent of the Governor is hereby published for general information.

Whereas it is txp edien t lur the r to am end the Asfam Land Revenue Re-assessment Act, 1936 (Assam A ct -V ll l of 1936), he re inaf ter called the principal Act, in the manner hereinafte r app ear ing ;

It is hereby ena cted in the Forty -fi rst Year of the Re­ public of In d ii as follows :— Sho rt tit le , ex te nt and comm ence­ me nt

1. (I ) Th is Act may ? e called the Astam Land Revenue Re-assessment (Am endmen t) Act , lf90 .

(2) It sha ll have the like extent as the pr inc ipal Act.

(3; It shall bs deemed to have come int o force on the 27th day of Dece mber, 1989.

2. In Section 2, af ter the clause t'xii), the following new clauses shall be inserted, namely :—

(xiii) ‘Tea Lands’ means lands taken up for special cultivation of tea and for purposes ancillary thereto in the Tea Estates ;

(xiv) ‘Tea Group’ means a group of tea estates which aie included by the Settlement Officer in one »et of proposals for re-classificatlon and re-assesgment under this Ac; ;

(xv) ‘Industrial Lands* means andg used fur the pu r­ poses of manufacturing industrial products o f yari« ous kinds as may be prescribed in the Rules ;

(xvl) All words and expressions used in this Act and not defined herein shall hays the same meaning assigned to them respectively In the principal Act aad the Assam Land and Revenue Regulat ion,

7. In the pr incipa l Ac t, in Seotioa |3 ,— (1 ) for the figure “ 30'*, the figure “ 20” , shall be subs­ titu ted .

(3) the proviso (i ii ), shal l be deleted.

8. In 8ecti«n 15 of the principal Act, be Inserted, namely **(d) Industrial Sites” , clause (d) sha’la Deletion of 9. In the principal Act, Section 20 shall be deleted.

Amendment 10. In the principal Act," ia Section 21 for the figure of Section ‘‘ 30 ”, figure “ 20 ” shall be substituted.

“25 A. Assessment of revenue on industrial land— Notwithstanding anything contained in the Act, where land originally settled is used as industrial land, th e revenue thereon shall be assessed at such higher rates as may be prescribed by rules” .
