The post of ophthalmic Assistant shall be the basic level post. After selection of ophthalmic Assistant by Bihar combined competitive examination Two Years Diploma course shall be given by the selected medical colleges. After publishing an advertisement and completing the necessary procedures by the commission a selection-cum merit list shall be prepared and recommended to the Director-in chief, health services for appointment.
The vacancies to all the posts higher to the ophthalmic Assistant shall be filled by promotion from the just lower posts. The recommendation/consent of Departmental promotion committee shall be obtained in the proposals of promotion.
All the teaching posts shall be filled by promotion from basic post ophthalmic Assistant having eight, twelve & fifteen years working experience for Tutor, lecturer and Associate Professor respectively. Promotion shall be considered by the promotion committee constituted by Health Department.
