( 1) Any candidate may withdraw his candidature by notice in writing in Form VII-A signed by him and delivered in person by him or hy his election agent to the Returning Officer before four O'clock in the afternoon on the day following the scrutiny of nomination papers under sub-rule (1) of rule 26:
Pmv i ded that if scrutiny is undertaken by nominee ol Returning Officer and the person aggrieved prefers an appeal before the President, in such cases the date of with drawal shall be the day, following the day the President decides the appeal.
(2) On receipt of such notice, the Returning Officer shall note thereon the date and time at which it was delivered.

(3) The Returning Officer shall, on being satisfied as to the genuineness of notice of withdrawal and the iden tity of the person delivering it under sub-rule (1), cause a notice in Fonn VII-B to be pes ted at the notice Board of the office of Cantonment Board.
(4) A candidate who has given notice of withdrawal of his candidature under sub-rule (1) shall not be allowed to cancel the notice, or to be renominated as a candidate for the same election.
