[ R s l lHd- III/4/3ETT./482/16] CENTRAL UNIVERSITY OF GUJARAT NOTIFICATION Gandhinagar, the 2nd December, 2016 No. 2-4/2009-Admn/5822.—The following is published for general information.— Statute 2 Statute 2(4) - (amended) The Vice Chancellor shall hold office for a term of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of seventy years, whichever is earlier, and he shall be eligible for re-appointment for a second term. A Central University Vice Chancellor or a serving University Professor of Eminence, nominated by the Executive Council on the recommendation of the Vice Chancellor iv. Dean of Students’ Welfare v. Five Deans of Schools of Studies of whom not more than three shall be from each of the groups specified below by rotation according to seniority; Group-I Faculty of Social Sciences, Management and Humanities Group-II Faculty of Science, Technology & Health Sciences vi. One Professor, who is not a Dean, by rotation according to seniority, nominated by the Vice Chancellor vii. One Associate Professors, by rotation according to Seniority, nominated by the Vice Chancellor viii. One Assistant Professors, by rotation according to Seniority, nominated by the Vice Chancellor ix. Two Members of the Court, when constituted, elected from amongst the elected members, none of whom shall be an employee or student of the University or an institution recognized by or associated with the University x. Four persons of distinction in academic life, to be nominated by the Visitor xi. One Member each from the Categories, namely Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Minorities, Women and Differently Abled, shall be nominated by the Vice Chancellor as members from the teachers of the University or other Central/State Universities xii. Registrar - Secretary 11(2) Fifty percent of the Members of the Executive Council, including at-least two outside members, not belonging to the University shall form a quorum for a Meeting of the Executive Council. Two students’ representatives, to be nominated by the Vice Chancellor on merit basis, from members of the Student Council of University, on rotation basis. Such members hall not have the right to be present at the meeting of the Academic Council when it takes up for consideration any of the following subjects:
(a) Faculty positions, recruitment, conditions of service and academic freedom;
(b) Actual processes of evaluating academic performance and merit of students.
