Section 17: Commissioners of Police, etc. to act in the Metropolitan towns

All acts which the Magistrate is authorised or required to do by section 14, 15 or 16 may be done in the Metropolitan towns by the Commissioners of Police and all duties which an officer in charge of a police station is authorised or required to perform, may be performed in any of the Metropolitan towns by an officer of the police force not below the rank of an Inspector.
