Section 24: Power of Boards, Courts, Labour Courts, Tribunals and National Tribunals

In addition to the powers conferred by the Act, Boards, Courts, Labour Courts, Tribunals and National Tribunals shall have the same powers as are vested in a Civil Court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, when trying a suit, in respect of the following matters, namely:— The Industrial Disputes (Central) Rules, 1957

(a) discovery and inspection;

(b) granting adjournment;

(c) reception of evidence taken on affidavit, and the Board, Court, Labour Court, Tribunal or National Tribunal may summon and examine any person whose evidence appears to it to be material and shall be deemed to be a civil court within the meaning of sections 480 and 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
