Chandigarh Motor Vehicle Rules 1990Union territory Rules of Chandigarh · 1988

In these rules, unless there 1s anythlng rapugnant to the subiect or context :-_

(a) "Act" heans the Motor Vehlcles Act, 1988 (Ccntral Act No. 59 of 1988) ;

(b) "Board of InsPectlon" means a Boalcl of appolnted under rule 38 ;

(c) "Central Rutes" rneans the Central Motor Rules, 19Bg ;

(d) "Chaptet" means the chaPter of these rules ;

(e) "State" means the Unlon Terrltory of ChaDdlgarh ,

(f) "Passenger" for the purpose of Chapter V. m€ans any person travelllng In a Publlc servlce vehlcle other than the drlver or the conductor of such vehlcle or any oihet €mployee of the permlt holder whtle on duty;

(g) "Sectton" means a section of the Act;

(h) "Admlnlstrato!" means the Admlnlstrator of Unlon Terrltory ChandlgErh aPpointed by the Prcsldent of Indla under artlclo 239 of the Constltutlon ;

(1) "Stand" means a place dulv aPPolnted as a staDd under Chapter x of these rules ;

(j) "Deputy Commlssloner" Iheans the Deputy Commlssloner of Unlon Terrltory of Chandlgalh ;

{k) "Transport Co-operatlve soclety" means a transport co-pelatlve soctety reglstered as such under the provlslons of the Punjab Co-operatlve Socletles Act, 1961 i

(l) "'Transport Company" means a transPort comPanv reglstered as such under the ComPanles Act, 1956';

. .. (4) When a new photograph ls afflxed to a Ucence, a noteshall De made upon the photograph of the date of lffixure.
