Proviued that no aclion shall he taken by the presiding officer under this sub-rule' unless a sum of two rupees has been deposited in cash with the pre~iding officer by the candidate or his agent for each challenge he makes.
(2):If the person so challenged refuses to comply with such requisition, he shall not be permitted to vote. But if such person does so comply and on being questioned in the manner provided in rule 27 a.nswers the first question in the anirma,tive and the second Clurslion. in the negative and replies satisfactorily· to any olher question put to him in pursuance o[ that rule, and if having been required to produce evidence of identification he produces evidence which the prQsiding officer considers s"tisfaetory, he shall be allowed to vole after he has' been informed of the penalty for personation.

Return of ballot papel' by electol'.-lf an eleclor arter ob taining any ballot paper for the purpose of recording his vote decides not to use the same. he shall return the ballot paper to the · presiding officer, and the ballot paper ISO returned shall then be marked as "cancelled-returned" and kept in a separate envelope set . apart for the pur.pose and a record shall pe kept by the presiding olIicer of all such ballot papers.
