Member-Secretary of the Commission, procedure of meetings of the Commission and its powers under Section 16(5) of the NFSA, 2013-
1. The Secretary, Food & Supplies and Consumer Affairs & Legal Metrology, U.T., Chandigarh will be the Chairperson of the State Food.Commisslon by virtue of the post.
2. The Joint Secretary, Food & supplies and Consumer Affairs& Legal Metrology, U.T., Chandigarh will be the Member-Secretary ofthe State Food Commission by virtue of the post.

3. The Director, Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, U.T., Chandigarh will be the Member of the State Food Commission by virtue of the post.
4. The Director, School Education, U.T., Chandigarh will be the Member of the State Food Commission by virtue of the post.
5. TheAdditional Director, Food & supplies and Consumer Affairs& Legal Metrology, U.T., Chandigarh will be the Member of the State Food Commission by virtue of the post.
6. The Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh will be requested to recommend the names of 02 Municipal Councillors as and when required.
7. The entire constitution of State Food Commission shall contain atleast two women and one person belonging to the scheduled castes, whether Chairperson, Member or Member Secr?tary since there are no scheduled tribes in Chandigarh. The State Food Commission as pre Section 16(2) of the Act shall hear complaints regarding violation of entitlements under the Act, and appeal against the order of the District Grievance· Redressal Officer (DGRO) shall be presented by the complainant or appellant to the Commission in person or by registered post or any electronic mode, addressed to the Member-Secretary of the Commission.
8. The complainant or appellant shall file his/her appeal in writing in Hindi/Punjabi/English language with specific details and contact information of the complainant or appellant. Where the complainant is illiterate or otherwise prevented from giving such complaint in writing, the Food Commission shall render all assistance possible· to facilitate the complainant or appellant and put it in writing. No anonymous or pseudonymous complaint shall be entertained.
9. Any appeal against the order of the District Grievance Redressal Officer (DGRO) shall be filed before the Commission within 30 days.
10. The State Food Commission shall, on receipt of any complaint/appeal, seek a report on it from the District Grievance Redressal Officer, alongwith supporting documents, who shall be required to furnish it within fifteen days.
11. Taking into consideration the report of the District Grievance Redressal Officer (DGRO), and the available documents, the State Food Commission shall issue appropriate orders for redressal of the complaint, within fifteen days from the receipt of the report of the District Grievance Redressal Officer (DGRO).
12. In the case of appeal against the orders of the District Grievance Redressal Officer (DGRO), the Food Commission shall fix a date, time and place for the hearing the appeal and issue notices to all the parties. The Commission may also, at the request of the parties or suo-moto, adjourn the proceedings to some other date with or without cost.
13. On the date of hearing, it shall be obligatory for the parties to appear before ·the State Food Commission. If complainant or appellant fails to appear on such date, the Food Commission may in its discretion either dismiss the appeal or decide ex-parte on merits. If the respondent or his agent fails to appear on such date, the Food Commission shall proceed ex-parte and shall decide the appeal on merits of the cas? ..
14. The State Food Commission will resort to summary procedure and an appeal shall be decided, within a period of thirty days from the date of receipt of appeal, by giving all concerned an opportunity of hearing.
15. The order of the Food Commission shall be authenticated by the Member-Secretary or any other officers of the Commission duly authorized by the Commission on its behalf.
16. The Food Commission shall .arrange to deliver copies of the decision to the parties concerned within a- period .of fifteen days from the date-of such decision'. ·
17. The Food Commission, while enquiring into complaints, shall have powersto require any person-
(i) to produce before, and allow to be examined such books, accounts, documents or any other material in custody or under control of the persons so required as may be specified in the requisition.
(ii) To furnish such informationas -ma¥ be required.
18. The Food Commission shall maintain all the records, including the appeals and records related to their disposal Chandigarh, dated 16.D?. L2) Administrator Union Territory, Chandigarh .
