Section 2: Def ini t ions

In this Act unless the context otherwise requires,-

(a) "advocate" means a person whose name has been entered in the State rol l of advocates prepared and maintained by the Bar Counci l of Madhya Pradesh under Section 17 of the Advocates Act, 1961 (25 of 1961) and who is a member of a Bar Associat ion;

(b) “Bar Associat ion" means an associat ion of advocates recognised by the Bar Counci l under Section 16;

(c) "Bar Counci l" means the Bar Counci l of Madhya Pradesh consti tuted under Section 3 of the Advocates Act, 1961 (25 of 1961);

(d) "cessation of pract ice" means permanent stoppage or cessation of pract ice by an advocate on account of his ret irement, death or any other reason, as the case may be, duly noti f ied to the Bar Counci l , and include removal of the name of an advocate from the State rol l maintained by the Bar Counci l ;

(e) "dependants" means wife, husband, father, mother, unmarried chi ldren or widowed daughter of the advocate and actual ly dependent on him for maintenance;

( f) ' fund" means the Advocates' Welfare Fund consti tuted under Sect ion 3;

(g) " junior advocate" means an advocate who was enrol led as an advocate by the Bar Counci l not more than f ive years ago;

(h) "member of the fund" means an advocate as defined in clause (a) ;

( i ) "ret irement" means permanent stoppage of pract ice as an advocate on account of advanced age inf irmity any t ime after attaining the age of sixty years and communicated to and recorded by the Bar Counci l ;

( j ) " suspension of pract ice" means voluntary suspension of pract ice as an advocate or suspension by the Bar Counci l for misconduct;

(k) "Trustee Committee" means the committee establ ished under Section
