(1) A "ehak" is that area of 1and on one side of a Chak.

canal, or below a tail, which would be commanded by a single outlet so situated that it would eonunz1nd the greatest possible area of land on that side of the canal in that neighbourhood.

Explanation.~The fact that, in order to secure a more efficient flow of water, two or more outlets are constructed fot one chak, does not convert that chak into two or more chaks.

(2) In cases of doubt, the Executive Engineer shall have power to determine the boundaries of chaks ; and in all cases he shall have power so to determine them that no single chak shall include land in more than one village.
