(1) Mention of rules hereinafter shall mean "Indian Law Report Chhattisgarh Series Rules 2003" published in Chhattisgarh Rajpatra dated 19th September 2003 vide Notification datea 9th September 2003, No: 5583/4168/XXI-B/03. . . . .

each case shall vest with the committee which shall also guide the editorial report of. Indian Law Report Ch~attisga.rh Series. · • After selection of cases by the Assistant Editor under rule 8(i) and (ii) and upon being brought to the notice qf th~ Editor, the Editor shall prepare Head-notes or Short-notes indicating number of the Act referred to in the decision. · Cases of category enumerated in sub-rule (i) of rule 8 shall be circulated and approved in accor- · dance with sub-rule (iii) of rule 8 and cases falling in category of sub-rule (ii) of rule 8 shall be circulated and approved in accordance with sub-rule (vi) of rule 8.
(5) The committee shall ordinary meet once in a month on such date and at such time· as may be determined by the Chairman for finally approving the judgments selected by the Editor and marked "for discussion".
(6) Judgments marked "A. F. R." and approved by the Committee in accordance with rule 8 shall ordinarily be reported in preference to other apprpved judgments for reporting.
(7) _ No judgment shall be published without the approval of the Hon'ble Judge or Ju_dges who delivered - it.
(8) In preparing' reports, regard shall be had to the following general rules and principles.
(a) Every report ought to contain a statement of all facts necessary for the due understanding of • (b)

(d) the decision. · Reports ought not to state any fact which are clearly Necessary for due understanding of the decision.
In judging whether to insert or to omit statement,of Facts, it is better to err on the side of over statement than of understatement. · As a general rule, cases for which a full statement of acts cannot be obtained are not to be reported. ·
(e) Each judgment as bears on the ~oint, for which the case is reported, should be printed in
(f) verbatim. · ' As a general rule, cases turning upon evidence or inference of fact, cases relating to the construction of private documents, and general cases which do not illustrate some principles of law or some important bearing of an enactment ln a.way not covered by previous decisions ought not to be reported. · ..

(9) The report shall be issued quarterly and each quarterly issue shall be described as a Part giving consecutive numbers from one (I) to four (IV).

a. Journal Section: This section shall contain articles written by Hon'ble Judges, Advocates, Legal academicians and Law student~ over any legal issue of importance.
b. . In the Report, cases shall be classified as follows:
Section I-Reports Section II-Reports Section III-~eports Decision of High·Court of Chhattisgarh.
Decision of the Supreme Court In Appeals or the Decision of The High Court of Chhattisgarh and other important decisions of Supreme Court.
Short Notes-decision of r.ligh Court Chhattisgarh and Supreme Court .
. ( 12) The judgment approved for reporting shall, as far as possible,· be published according to the date of . pronouncement unless otherw.ise directed by the Committee.
(13) Following Registers shall be maintained.
(i) Assi~tant Editor shall maintain register-containing Index of all COJDies. of decisions received in the office as also the Index of issue of copies of decisions and Head Notes to the Editor for scrutiny and editing.
(ii) Register of judgments approved by the Committee for Reporting in I.LR. containing Case Number, name of the parties and date of judgment.
(iii) Register of Subscribers containing Subscriber Number, name and address, payment and receipt of subscriptions and renewals.
(iv) Other registers and may be found necessary to be ma_intained b.y the decision of the Committee.
(v) Assistant Editor shall keep available all the registers for scrutiny and inspection of the Committee in all the meetings.
(14) The Committee ·may,_with previous approval of the Chief Justice amend the rules for conduct of the business of the Committee.
( 15) The Editor shall arrange to get the. Report the cases published as provided in Rule 10 of the Rules of 2003.
