PART II—Section 1 PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No 50] NEW DELHI, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 28, 1957/PAUSA 7, 1879 MINISTRY OF LAW New Delhi, the 28th December, 1957 The following Acts of Parliament received the assent of the President on the 27th December, 1957, and are hereby published for general information: — THE COUNTESS OF DUFFERIN'S FUND ACT, 1957 No. 63 OF 1957 [27th December, 1957] An act to provide for the transfer of the Fund known as the Countess of Dufferin's Fund to the Central Government. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows: —

1. This Act may be called the Countess of Dufferin's Fund Act,

1957. Short title.

2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— Definitions.

(a) "Association" means the National Association for Supplying Medical Aid by Women to the Women of India, being a society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860;31 of 1860.

(b) "Fund" means ell property, movable or immovable, of or belonging to the Association. 685 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY [PART II

3. On the commencement of this Act—Dissolution of Association and transfer of Fund.

(a) the Association shall stand dissolved;

(b) the Fund shall vest in the Central Government; and

(c) all the debts and liabilities of the Association shall be transferred to the Central Government and shell thereafter be discharged and satisfied by it out of the Fund.

4. Notwithstanding anything contained in any law for the time being in force, all acts and things done, before the commencement of this Act, by any person acting or purporting to act in pursuance of the Resolutions passed at the extraordinary general meeting of the Association held on the 19th day of April, 1948, shall be valid and shall be deemed always to have been valid and no suit or other proceeding shall be Instituted, maintained or continued against any person whatever on the ground that any such act or thing was not done in accordance with law. Validation of certain acts done before the commencement of this Act. THE PREVENTION OF DISQUALIFICATION (AMEND- MENT) ACT, 1957 No. 64 OF 1957 [27th. December, 1957] An ACT further to amend the Prevention of Disqualification Act, 1953 BE it enacted by Parliament in the Eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows: —

1. This Act may be called the Prevention of Disqualification (Amendment) Act, 1957. Short title.

2. In section 4 of the Prevention of Disqualification Act, 1953, for the figures and words "3l3t day of December, 1907", the figures and words "31st day of December, 1958" shall be substituted. 1. This Act may be called the Citizenship (Amendment) Act,

3957. Short title.

2. In the First Schedule to the Citizenship Act, 1955, under the heading "A. The following Commonwealth countries:—", after entry 8, the following entries shall be inserted, namely: — 57 of 1955. Amendment of First Schedule. "9. Ghana.

10. Federation of Malaya.

(1) on page 416, in the proviso to section 12, for "directors" read "directions";

(2) on page 418, in the last line of clause (a) of section 16, for "for that year, the expenditure chargeable to tax has" read "or assessment at too low a rate or otherwise; or";
