Section 23: Probation

Coast Guard (Seniority and Promotion) Rules,1987Central Rules · 1978

The period of probation shall be as stipulated in the respective recruitment rules. As long as no specific orders of satisfactory completion of probation are issued to a probationer, such probationer shall be deemed to have continued on probation.

The period of probation can be extended by a period of two years by appointing authority on the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee.

Extension of probation beyond 4 years shall be made with the approval of Government.

Enrolled persons who do not complete the period of probation satisfactorily are liable to be reverted to their formed rank or discharged from service.
