1. Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage of One Hundred Twenty Five Rupees and Five Rupees Coins to mark the Occasion of 125 TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF JAWAHARLAL NEHRU Rules, 2014.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. Denomination of coins.- The coins of the following denominations shall also be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate the occasion of “125 TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF JAWAHARLAL NEHRU”, namely:—
(i) One Hundred Twenty Five Rupees;
(ii) Five Rupees.
3. Dimension and composition of coins.- The coins of the denominations mentioned in rule 2 shall conform to the following dimensions and composition, namely:— Denomination of coin Shape and outside diameter Number of serrations Metal composition

4. Design. – The design of the coins shall be as under :—
(i) ONE HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE RUPEES OBVERSE: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “स�यमेवस�यमेवस�यमेवस�यमेव जयतेजयतेजयतेजयते” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “ भारतभारतभारतभारत ” in Devnagri script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English, and it shall also bear the Rupee symbol “`” and denominational value “125” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: The face of the coin shall bear the portrait of “JAWAHARLAL NEHRU” in the centre, with inscription “जवाहरलालजवाहरलालजवाहरलालजवाहरलाल नेह�नेह�नेह�नेह� क�क�क�क� 125 125 125 125 वींवींवींवीं जयंतीजयंतीजयंतीजयंती” in Devnagri script on upper periphery and on the lower periphery shall bear the inscription “125 TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF JAWAHARLAL NEHRU” in English, and the year’s figure “1889-2014” shall be written below the portrait in international numerals.
(ii) FIVE RUPEES OBVERSE: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “स�यमेवस�यमेवस�यमेवस�यमेव जयतेजयतेजयतेजयते” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारतभारतभारतभारत” in Devnagri script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English, and it shall also bear the Rupee symbol “`̀̀̀” and denominational value “5” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. 4 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC. 3(i)] REVERSE: The face of the coin shall bear the portrait of “JAWAHARLAL NEHRU” in the centre, with inscription “जवाहरलालजवाहरलालजवाहरलालजवाहरलाल नेह�नेह�नेह�नेह� क�क�क�क� 125 125 125 125 वींवींवींवीं जयंतीजयंतीजयंतीजयंती” in Devnagri script on upper periphery and on the lower periphery shall bear the inscription “125 TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF JAWAHARLAL NEHRU” in English, and the year’s figure “1889 - 2014” shall be written below the portrait in international numerals.
5. Standard weight and remedy allowed.– The Standard weight of the coins of the following denominations, coined to commemorate the occasion of “125 TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF JAWAHARLAL NEHRU” and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Table below:— TABLE Denomination of coin Standard weight Remedy allowed In composition In standard weight

Five Rupees 6 Grams 1/100 th plus or minus for Copper and Zinc, that is to say Copper could vary from 74 per cent to 76 per cent. and Zinc from 19 per cent to 21 per cent and 1/200 th plus or minus for Nickel that is to say Nickel could vary from
4.5 per cent to 5.5 per cent. 1/40 th plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could vary from 5.85 grams to
