The Daman and Diu Panchayat Regulation, 2012Union territory Regulations of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu · 2012

(1) On the constitution of a Gram Panchayat for the first time under this Regulation or on the expiry of the term of a Gram Panchayat or on its reconstitution , a meeting shall be called on a date fixed by the Administrator for the election of Upa-Sarpanch in such manner as may be prescribed.

(2) The officer appointed by the Administrator shall preside over such meeting, but shall not have the right to vote.

(3) No business other than the election of the Upa-Sarpanch shall be transacted at such meeting.

(4) In case of equality of votes, the result of the election shall be decided by draw of lots in the presence of officer referred to in sub-section (2), in such manner as he may determine.

18. The executive powers of the Gram Panchayat under this Regulation and the responsibility for the due fulfilment of the duties imposed on the Gram Panchayat under this Regulation and for carrying out the resolution of the Gram Panchayat shall vest in the Sarpanch.
