Section 123: Power to Marketing Committee and Secretary to impose penalties

(1) A Marketing Committee or its Secretary shall have the power, to impose by order, a penalty not exceeding five thousand rupees on any market functionary or agriculturist or purchaser for the contravention of any bye-law, after giving the persons concerned a reasonable opportunity of being heard.
(2) An appeal against an order under sub-section (1) shall lie to the Vice-Chairman of the Board, within such time and in such manner as may be prescribed.
