Section 17: Powers of'Civil Court

The Delhi Commission For Safai Karamcharis Act, 2006Union territory Act of Delhi · Act 7697 of 2006

The Commission shall have in carrying out its functions, the powers of a civil court trying a suit and, in particular, in respect of the following matters, namely :-

(a) summoning and enforcing the attendance of any person and examining him on oath;

(b) requiring the discovery and production of any document;

(c) receiving evidence on affidavits;

(d) requisitioning any public record or copy thereof, from any office or institution of the Govermnent; '

(e) issuing commissions for the examination ofwitnesses and documents.

18. Power to utilize services of investigation agencies of Government.i~ The Commission may, for the purposes of conducting any investigation under this Act, utilize the services of any investigating agency of the Government with the' prior approval of the Government. ‘
