Section 2: Definitions

(1)In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires, –

(a) “Act” means the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 (1 of 2010);

(b) “Delhi” means the National Capital Territory of Delhi;

(c) “Government” means the Lt. Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi appointed by the President under article 239 and designated as such under article 239AA of the Constitution;

(d) “Reference Standards Laboratory” means a laboratory set up by the Central Government under the Act, where Reference Standards, Secondary Standards and Working Standards are maintained;

(e) “Schedule” means a Schedule appended to these rules;

(2) Words and expressions used in these rules and not defined but defined in the Act shall have the meanings respectively assigned to them in the Act.
