SEC. 3(i)] THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : MARCH 6, 1976/PHALGUNA 16, 1897 659 MINISTRY OF TOURISM & CIVIL AVIATION New Delhi, the 22nd January, 1976 G.S.R. 351.—In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to article 309 of the Constitution, the President hereby makes the following rules further to amend the India Meteorological Department (Class I and Class II posts) Recruitment Rules. 1969, namely:—

1. (i) These rules may be called the India Meteorological Department (Class I and Class 11 Posts) Recruitment (Amendment Rules, 1976.

(ii) They shall come into force on the date of Ihcir publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the India Meteorological Department (Class I and Class II posts) Recruitment Rules, 1969, rules 7 ;ind 8 shall be renumbered as rules 6 and 9 respectively and before rule 8 as so renumbered, the following rule shall be inserted, namely :

"7. Liability Lo serve in the Defence Services for new recruits with Engineering Degrees—• Any person with a Degree in Engineering, appointed to any of the said posts on or afterthe date of publication of these rules in the official Gazette shall, if so required, lie liable to s-srvc in any Defence Servce or post connected with the defence of India, for a period of not less than four years including the period, if nny, spent on training :

Provided that such person

(a) shall not be required to serve us aforesaid after the expiry of ten years from the date of Appointment;

(b) Shall not ordinarily be required to serve as nforesaid after attaining the age of forty years".

MINISTRY OF WORKS AND HOUSING New Delhi, the 21st February, 1976 G.S.R. 352.—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 63 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 (6 of 1974) the Central Government, after consultation with the Central Board for (he Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, hereby makes the following rules, to fimend the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Rules, 1975, namely :—

1.(1) These rules may be called the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Rules, 1976.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Rules, 1975 :—

(a) in sub-rule (1) of rule 5 and sub-rule (2) of rule 10, for the words "rupees fifty", Ihe words "rupees seventy-five" shall be substituted;

(b) in sub-rule (5) of rule 9, in the proviso, for the words "as soon as may be", the words "as soon us may be, and in any case not later than three months", shall be substituted;

(c) In rule 12, the following proviso shall be inserted at the end, namely :— "Provided that the services of a consulting engineer shall not be terminated under this rule by the Central Board except after giving him a reasonable opportunity of showing cause against the proposed action."

CORRIGENDUM New Delhi, the 27th February, 1976 C.S.R. 353.—In the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Works and Housing No G.S.R. 85(E) dated the 17th February, 1976, published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary Part Tl-Section 3—Sub-section (i) at pages 267 to 296.—

(1) at page 270, after line 52, insert— "8. Have you acquired any vacant land on or after the commencement of the Act as provided in section 15(1) of the Act? If so, the extent location, mode and other details thereof.'";

(2) at page 291, in line 4,— for "20(D", read "21(1)".
