(1) This Act may be called the Global Open University (Nagaland) Act, 2006.
(2) It shall come into force on the date appointed by the State Government by notification in the Official Gazette.
Defmitions
2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, the following words shall have the meanings assigned herein:
(1) "Academic Council" means the Academic Council of the University;
(2) "Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies constituted under this Act;
(3) "Chancellor" means the Chancellor of the University;
(4) "Director" means a Director of the University;
(5) "Executive Council" means Executive Council of the University;
(6) "Finance Committee" means Finance Committee of the University;
(7) "Finance Officer" means Finance Officer of the University;
(8) "Fund" means the funds of the University and includes fund for a sponsored scheme;
(9) "Governing Council" means the Governing Council of the University;
(10) "Governor" means the Govemor of Nagaland;
(11) "Notification" means notification published in the Oflicial Gazette of the Government of Nagaland;
(12) "Pro-Chancellor" means the Pro-Chancellor of the University;
(13) "Registrx" means the Registrar of the University;
(14) "Regulation" means a regulation made under this Act;
(15) "Schedule" means schedule to this Act;
(16) "State Government" means the State Government of Nagaland
(17) "Trust" means the World Institution Building Programme, New Delhi registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882;
(18) "UGC" means University Grants Commission constituted under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956
(19) " University" means the Private University by name the Global Open University (Nagaland) established under this Act; and
(20) "Vice-Chancellor" means the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
