Section 25: Power of Government to control moving of antiquities

The Goa Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1978State Act of Goa · Act 1 of 1979

(1) If the Government considers that any antiquities or class of antiquities ought not to be moved from the place where they are, without its sanction, the Government may by notification direct that any such antiquity or any class of such antiquities shall not be moved except with the written permission of the Director:

Provided that no notification under this sub-section shall be made in respect of any antiquity for the compulsory acquisition of which an order has been made by the Central Government under sub-section (1) of section 19 of the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act, 1972 (Central Act 52 of 1972).

(2) Every application for permission under sub-section (1) shall be in such form and contain such particulars as may be prescribed.

(3) Any person aggrieved by an order refusing permission may appeal to the Government whose decision shall be final.
