Section 39: Compounding of offence

(1) Any offence punishable under this Act with fine only -18- may, before the institution of the prosecution, be compounded by such person as may be authorized by the Government, on payment to that person, for the credit to the Government, of such sum as may be specified by that person not exceeding the maximum amount of fine which may be imposed for that offence.

(2) Where an offence is compounded under sub-section (1), no proceeding shall be taken against the offender in respect of the offence so compounded.
