When the co-heirs or legatees with equal shares are reciprocally substituted, it shall be deemed that they have been substituted in the same proportion. However, if the number of substitutes exceeds the number of instituted heirs or legatees and no provision in that regard has been made, it shall be deemed that they were substituted in equal shares.
