The Gujarat Prohibition Act, 1949.State Act of Gujarat · Act 25 of 1949

(1) Any Prohibition Offi cer authorized by the 1[State] Government in this behalf or any Police Offi cer may—

(a) arrest without warrant any person whom he has reason to believe to be guilty of an offence under this Act ;

(b) seize and detain any intoxicant, hemp, mhowra fl owers or molasses or other articles which he has reason to believe to be liable to confi scation or forfeiture under this Act 8[and seize any document or other article which he has reason to believe may furnish evidence of the commission of an offence under this Act ].

(2) Any Prohibition Offi cer authorised by the 1[State] Government under this section who arrests any person under sub-clause (a), or siezes and detains any article under sub-clause (b), of sub-section (1) shall forward such person or article, as the case may be, without unnecessary delay to the offi cer in-charge of the nearest Police Station.
