375 AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT (FORESTS) NOTIFICATION.
Chandigarh, dated the 19th May,1965 No.3976-Ft.(VI)-65/1760. In exercise of the powers conferred by section 29 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of the Punjab is pleased to declare the land described in the schedule below to be protected Forests and the provisions of the Chapter IV and section 68 of the said Act, to be applicable to them.

Whereas by Punjab Government Notification No.3976-Ft.(VI)- 65/1760 dated the 19th May,1965, certain forests and Government waste lands mentioned in the schedule appended to the said notification, have been declared to be 376 ‘Protected Forests’ under section 29 of the Indian Forest Act,1927. Now, therefore, the Governor of Punjab, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 30 of the said act is pleased to :-
(a) declare all trees standing in or upon these lands to be reserved from the date of publication of this notification in the official Gazette for the period of 30 years and.
(b) prohibit from the same date and for the above period, the quarrying of stone, the burning of lime or charcoal or the collection or subjection to any manufacturing process or the removal of any Forest Produce in such forests and the breaking up or clearing of land for building or for herding cattle for any other purpose of any land in such forests.

Whereas by Punjab Government Notification No:3976- Ft.VI/1760 dated the19th May,1965, certain forests mentioned in the schedule appended thereto, have been declared to be ‘Protected Forests’ under section 29 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927, Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 32 & 33 of the said Act, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to make the following rules applicable to all lands specified in the aforesaid notification.
RULES
1. No person shall cut, fell or lop any tree for any purpose whatsoever or remove timber or any other forest produce.
2. No person shall herd, pasture grass or retain any cattle on the said lands.
3 No person shall cut or remove the grass, Kahi or Kana without the approval of Divisional Forest Officer, Ambala Forest Division, on the condition that the grass is cut above ground with sickle only.
4. No person shall clear or break up land for cultivation for any other purpose.
5 No person shall set fire to grass, trees, timber or kindle a fire on the land without taking responsible precautions to prevent its spreading.
6. The quarrying of stones or the burning of lime at places where such stone or lime has not ordinarily been quarried or burnet prior to the publication of Punjab Government Notification No: 3976-Ft.(VI)-65/1760 dated the19.5.1965, shall be regulated by the Punjab Minor Mineral Rules published under Punjab Government Notification No.4345- R, dated the 23rd Dec.,1933.
7. Income from the compounding offences against these rules under section 68 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 shall be credited to Government.
