- 651 - (FORESTS) NOTIFICATION The 10th September, 1962

1. II. No. 5775/ft(VI)-62/4210- Whereas the Governor of Punjab satisfied after due enquiry, that the regulations, restriction and prohibitions hereinafter contained are necessary for the purpose of giving effect to the provisions of the Punjab Land Preservation Act, 1900, the Governor of Punjab in exercise of powers conferred by section 4 of the said Act, is hereby pleased to prohibit the following acts for a period of 25 years with effect from the date of the notification in the area specified in the schedule. annexed to this notification, the said areas forming part of the village in Mohindergarh Tehsil and District, specified in the schedule annexed to the Punjab Government notification No. 5775/ft (VI) -62/4209, dated the 10th September, 1962 :-

(i) The clearing or breaking or cultivation of land not ordinarily under cultivation prior to the publication of the Punjab Government notification No. 5775/Ft (VI)-62/4209 dated 10th September, 1962, provided that the breaking up of the land for cultivation may be permitted by the Divisional Forest Officer, Mohindergarh Forest Division.

(ii) The quarrying of stone or the burning of lime at places where such stones or lime has not ordinarily been quarried or burnt prior to the publication of the said notification except with the permission of the collector of the Mohindergarh District, who will consult the Divisional Forest Officer, Mohindergarh Forest Division, before according such permission.

(iii) The cutting of trees of timber or the collection, removal or subjection to any manufacturing process of any forest produce other than grass, flower, fruit and honey, save for bona fide timber after fist obtaining a permit to do so from the Divisional Forest Officer, Mohindergarh Forest Division, such permit will prescribe such conditions for sale as may from time to time appear necessary in the interest of Forest conservancy.

(iv) The setting on fire of trees, timber or forest produce.

(v) The admission, herding, pasturing or retention of sheep, goats and camels provided that in cases where sickness necessitate the keeping of goat for milk, the Divisional Forest Officer, Mohindergarh Forest Division, may issue a permit at his discretion for the retention of a limited number of stall-fed goats to be specified for a specified period.

- 653 - No. 5775/ft(VI)-62/4211- Whereas certain areas mentioned in the annexed schedule are surprised within the limits of the local areas notified under section 3 of the Punjab Land Preservation Act, 1990, with Punjab Government notification No. 5775/Ft (VI)-62/4209, dated the 10th September, 1962 and whereas in respect of the said areas, the Governor of Punjab is satisfied after due enquiry that, the regulations, restrictions and prohibitions hereinafter specified are necessary for the purpose of giving effect to the provisions of the said Act, the Governor of Punjab in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the said Act, is pleased to prohibit the following acts for a period of 25 years with effect from the date of this notification in these areas :-

10. The cutting of trees or timber of brushwood and the lopping of trees for any purpose provided that the Divisional Forest Officer, Mohindergarh Forest Division, may permit :-

(a) The cutting of green trees for house building and agricultural implements, and of dry wood for fuel for marriage and death ceremonies by persons shown in the settlement records as entitled to do so; and

(b) the lopping of branches for lac and the sale of chhal leaves to leather workers provided further that for the cutting of the dry wood for death ceremonies by persons shown in the settlement records as entitled to do so; the permission of the Divisional Forest Officer shall not be required and that for this purpose a simple information to the Forest guards concerned within a fortnight of felling shall be sent.

11. The collection or removal of grass for any purposes provided that the Divisional Forest Officer Mohindergarh Forest Division, may permit :-

(a) the cutting or sale or ripe grass after the rainy season ; and

(b) the cutting or sale of green grass during the rainy season from such portions of the notified areas in which grass may have sufficiently established itself.

12. The pasturing of any cattle other than sheep, goats and camels.
