The Haryana Prevention of BeggaryState Act of Haryana · Act 9 of 1971

(1) Whoever having been previously detained in a Certified Institution in accordance with the provisions of section 4 is found begging again shall on conviction be punishablc as is hereinafter provided in this section.

(2) When a person is convicted for the second time the court shall order him 1o be detained in a Certified Institution for 2 period not Ie:s than one year and not more than three years. .

(3) When a person is convicted for the third or subsequent tlme the court shall order him to be detained for a periad of five years in - the Certified Institution and may convert any period of such detention, noi exceeding one year, into a sentence of imprisonment :

Provided that the total period-of detention dnd imprisonment, if any, shall noi exceed five years.
