It shall be the duty of the Panchayat Samiti as a whole and the Chairman of the Panchayat Samiti in particular, to keep a watch over the progress of the various development schemes and works in progress or under maintenance in the Block and in case of any slackness in the progress or any irregularity or mis-utilisation of Samiti fund in any manner, he shall bring the matter to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner and the department concerned and shall also give a direction to the Block Development Officer to take necessary remedial action. The maintenance of accounts and other matters relating to Samiti fund shall also be the responsibility of the Block Development Officer in his capacity as Secretary and Executive Officer of the Panchayat Samiti.
