Section 1: Short title, extent, application and commencement

The Himachal Pradesh Hindu Public Religious Institution and Charitable Endowments Act, 1984State Act of Himachal Pradesh · Act 18 of 1984

(1) This Act may be called the Himachal Pradesh Hindu Public Religious Institution and Charitable Endowments Act, 1984.

(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Himachal Pradesh.

(3) It shall apply to all Hindu Public Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments mentioned in the Schedule I.

THE HIMACHAL PRADESH HINDU PUBLIC RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS AND CHARITABLE ENDOWMENTS ACT, 1984 4

Explanation .- The word "Hindu" shall mean the person contemplated under clause (a) and clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 2 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 (25 of 1955) and the expression "Hindu Public Religious Institution and Charitable Endowment" shall be construed accordingly.

1[(4) Section 1 shall come into force at once and the remaining sections of the Act shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different sections of this Act and for different Hindu Public Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments.
