Section 15: Governing body of the Society

(1) Every Society shall elect a Governing body, consisting of not less than three members of the Society, by a resolution passed by a majority of the members present and entitled to vote at an annual general body meeting of the Society held under section 19.

(2) The term of the Governing body or of its members so elected shall be as may be specified in the regulations but not exceeding three years:

Provided that a member of the Governing body of a Society shall be eligible for re-election as such, if the bye-laws so permit:

Provided further that a member of the Governing body may be removed by the general body in a meeting specially convened for such purpose by simple majority of votes of the members present after affording such member an opportunity of being heard.

(3) Every Society shall maintain a register showing the names, addresses and occupations of the persons, who are members of the Governing body and the President or Secretary or any person authorized in this behalf by Governing body, shall file with the Registrar—

(i) a copy of the register within a period of fourteen days from the date of election of the members of the first Governing body;

and

(ii) a notice of every change in the members of the Governing body within a period of fourteen days from the date of such change.

(4) The management of every Society shall vest in a Governing body elected under sub-section (1), which shall exercise such powers and perform such functions as may be conferred or imposed by this Act, the rules or the bye-laws.
