3. AppOintment of Teachers andAeadetnie
(1) Application for Teachers and Aeadeinie Staff sball.be A invited froni across the world, and these poSitions shall _suitably advertised„,—.
(2) Selection Committees for selecting the Teachers and Academic. Staff shall be constituted in accordance with the Statute 16. Different selection committees may be constituted for different areas.
(3)A Selection Committee thusconstituted will remain valid till: a new Committee is formed. While in effect; a . selection committee May.meet.any!nuinber of times.
(4) Menthers of a Selection Committee will be such as given in sub-clause (2) of clause 16 of the Statutes, and the Quorum of a Selection Committee shall be as giVen in sub-clause (2)(V) of clause 16 of the Statute.
(5) In case of non-availability of some member for a meeting, the Chairman of the Selection Committee may replace the member, for that meeting, by an expert from the panel approved by the Senate under sub-clause (2X1V) of clause 16 of the Statute, or by any other expert with the permission of the Chairman, Board of Governors. • •
(6) The minimum eligibility criteria' for the Teachers and Academic Staff shall be broadly the same as IITs. The.
Selection Committee may, however, waive the experience requirement for Assistant-Professors for Candidates with PhD from Institute of repute, and may relax the minimum for other levels, based on the track record of the candidate.
(7) There shall be a screening process for the candidates who satisfy the minimum eligilibility criteria for a post before the meeting of the Selection Committee. The candidates approved by the screening process will be presented before the Selection Committee.
(8) For all candidates presented to the Selection Committee, besides their CV, at least two letters of reference will be placed before the committee.
(9) A Selection Committee may interact with the screened candidates through face-to-face interaction, video conferencing tele-coaferencing, or any other means as it finds suitable. The Selection Committee may consider a candidate, particularly for senior positions, in absentia also.
(10) The members of the Selection Committee may join the Selection Committee meeting through alternative .

4. Salary and Other Benefits.—(I ) The salary scale forTeaebers and Academic Staff shall bebreadly the same 'as: in HT Delhi, iiicluding basic pay, grade pay, dearness allowance, etc. Addiitiopal personal pay up to some percentage of the salary' may be provided as per norms fixed by the Board.
(2) The quantum of Nerements in this scale may be performance-linked, as apkified by the Board.

(3) Other benefits to Teachers and Academic Staff including telephone reimbursement, health cover, transport allowance, moving/relocation allowance, support for professional activities including trawil, etc. shall be as per norms fixed by the Board, ,
(4) Additional personal compensation may be provided through fellowships, chairs, etc. which are setup from resources raised by :the, Institute through savings, corpus, donations etc., as per guidelines decided_ by the Board of Governors.
(5) Teachers and Academic Staff members may be proVided suitable housing either within! the campus or by leasing suitable accommodation off campus. In case no such housing is provided, or the member wishes to make his own arrangements, HRA will be paid as per norms specified by the Board.
(6) An employee will get all the benefits he/she is entitled from the Institute, irrespective of what his/her spouse gets from any organization including Government, and IIIT-D. The only exception to this is the provided/ leased accommodation to the spouse, for which the Board will build a policy later.

6. Guest Faculty Appointment.--(1)A Guest faculty is generally a person with expertise 'in some area who is employed elsewhere and who is given a contract by the Institute for a specific purpose like teaching a course, and for which the institute provides and hohorarium.
(2) The Director shall appoint guest faculty based on the Institute's needs and after discussing it with appropriate faculty members in the Institute. Payment to guest faculty will be as per norms fixed by the Institute, within the Boarclapproved guidelines.
7.1 Ordinance for B.Tech Program.—General—(1) The basic structure and philosophy of B. Tech Program is defined in Regulations for B. Tech Program, and are applicable to current B. Tech Programs and any B. Tech programs that may be introduced in future. However, a program may have additional requirements, which will be specified in regulations for that program.
(2) The Senate is the main body for all academic matters, and notwithstanding anything that has been stated in the regulations, the Senate has the right to modify/relax any of the regulations from time to time.
7.2 Academic Calendar.—(1) Each academic year shall have two regular semesters and one summer term.

7.4 Teaching and Evaluation.—( 1) The medium of instruction will be English for all courses, except for courses on foreign/local languages.
(2) Each course is conducted by the assigned instructor with the assistance of tutors and/or teaching assistants. The Instructor responsible for conducting the lecturers, tutorials, and labs, holding the tests and examinations, evaluating the performance of the students, and awarding grades at the end of the semester/summer term.
(3) A system of continuous evaluation is employed, in which, during a course, various instruments like tests, exams, assignments, projects etc. are given to assess the learning of students. All evaluations are the responsibility of the instructor of the course.
(4) At the end of the semester, based on the overall performance in the course, a letter grade is awarded to each student by the instructor. Each letter grade carries certain points which are used in the computation of the semester/overall performance.
(5) A letter grade once awarded shall not be changed unless the request is made by the Instructor of the course and is approved by the Senate.

8.9 Graduation Requirements and Grant of Degrees.—(1) A student becotties eligible for the award of the M. Tech/PhD degree after fulfilling all the academic and non-academic requirements prescribed by the Senate.
(2) A student who completes all graduation requirements is recommended by the Senate to the Board of Governors (BOG) for the award of degree in the convocation.
(3) Under exceptional circumstances, where gross violation of the graduation requirements or use of dishonest means is detected at a later stage, the Senate may recommend to the Board ofGovemors to withdraw an already awarded degree.
