Section 24: Power of Boards, Courts, Labour courts and Tribunals

In addition to the powers conferred by the Act, Boards, Courts, Labour Courts and Tribunals Shall have the same powers as are vested in a civil court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 when, trying a suit, in respect of the following matters, namely: --
(a) discovery and inspection;
(b) granting adjournment;
(c) reception of evidence taken on affidavit;
and the Board, Court, Labour Court or Tribunal may summon and examine any person whose evidence appears to be material and shall be deemed to be a civil court within the meaning of Sections 480 and 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
