Section 39: Drinking water, latrines, urinals and washing facilities

The Inter–State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) (Tamil Nadu) Rules, 1983State Rules of Tamil Nadu · 1979

(1) The Contractor shall provide sufficient quantity of wholesome drinking water, sufficient number of sanitary latrines and urinals, washing facilities for the migrant workmen at the establishment in the case of existing establishments within seven days of the commencement of these rules, and in case of new establishments within seven days of the commencement of employment of migrant workmen thereon.

(2) If any of the facilities is not provided by the contractor within the specified period, the same shall be provided by the principal employer within seven days of the expiry of the period specified in sub-rule (1).
