Section 19: Member not to exercise rights till due payment made.

(1) Nomember of a Co-operative Society shall, save as otherwise provided in subsection (2), exercise the rights of a member unless or until he has made such payment to the Society in respect of membership or has acquired such interest in the Society as may be specified in the bye-laws.

(2) In the case of a Society registered after the commencement of this Act, the persons who have signed the application to register the Society may elect a committee to conduct the affairs of the Society for a period of six months from the date of registration or for such further period not exceeding nine months as the Registrar may fix :

Provided that the Committee shall cease to function as soon as the members of the Society have elected a Committee in accordance with its byelaws.

[(3) All depositors shall have the voting rights in the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society provided they have also subscribed to at least one share.

(4) Where a self-help group is a member of a Society, a person nominated by such self-help group, may vote on its behalf in the affairs of the Society].
