Section 19: Postponement of election in case of emergencies

(a) If at an election the proceedings are interrupted or in any way disturbed and if in the opinion of the Returning Officer elections cannot be held fairly, he may adjourn the meeting and report the circumstances to the 2[Assistant Commissioner/Deputy Commissioner].

(b) Where an election has been postponed under sub-rule (a), the Returning Officer shall with the previous approval of the 2[Assistant Commissioner/Deputy Commissioner] fix a new date for purpose of election and the provision of these rules shall mutatis mutandis apply to such election.
