Section 3: Incorporation.

The Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board Act, 1976Union territory Act of Jammu and Kashmir · Act 7 of 1976

The Government shall, by notification in the [Government Gazette] establish for the purposes of this Act a Board by the name of the Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board.

(2) The Board shall be a body corporate having perpetual succession and a common seal and may sue and be sued in its corporate name and shall be competent to acquire and hold property both movable and immovable and to contract and do all things necessary for the purposes of this Act.

(3) For the purposes of this Act the Board shall be deemed to be a local authority.

Explanation.–– The purposes of this Act referred to in sub-section (3) include the management and use of land and buildings belonging to or vesting in the Board under or for the purposes of this Act and the exercise of its rights over and with respect to such lands and buildings for the purposes of this Act.
