Section 142: Troughs and pipes for rain water.

The Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Act, 2000Union territory Act of Jammu and Kashmir · Act 20 of 2000

(1) The municipality may, by notice, require the owner of any building or land in any street to put up and keep in good condition proper troughs and pipes for receiving and carrying water and sullage from the building or land and for discharging the same so as not to cause inconvenience to persons passing along the street.

(2) For the purpose of efficiently draining any building or land the municipality may, by notice, in writing,––

(a) require any courtyard, alley or passage between two or more buildings to be paved by the owner or part-owner of such buildings with such materials and in such manner as may be approved by the municipality ; and

(b) require such paving to be kept in proper repair.
