Section 50: Functions of the Standing Committee.

(l) The General Standing Committee shall perform functions relating to the establishment matters, general policy matters and all other residuary matters which are not covered under the domain and ambit of other Committees.

(2) The Finance, Audit, Planning and Health Committee shall perform the functions relating to the finance of the municipality, framing of budgets, scrutinising proposals for increase of revenue, examination of receipts and expenditure statements, consideration of all proposals affecting the finances of the municipality, general supervision of the revenue and expenditure of the municipality and matters and consideration of all proposals effecting the planning of the municipal area, health of the local inhabitants and general supervision.

(3) The Development Committee shall perform functions relating to functions of every kind of development of municipal areas. This will include the building regulations etc.

(4) Social Justice Committee shall perform the following functions:––

(a) protection from social injustice and all other forms of exploitation ;

(b) amelioration of the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and backward classes, women and other weaker sections of the society ; and

(c) securing social justice to the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, women and other weaker sections of the society.

(5) The Standing Committees shall perform the functions referred to above to the extent the powers are delegated to them by the municipality.
