Section 42: Holding of elections.

The Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989Union territory Act of Jammu and Kashmir · Act 9 of 1989

(1) The elections to the Halqa panchayat shall be held one month prior to the expiry of term [or within six months from the date of appointment of Administrator under section 9], as the case may be.

[(2) The election of the Chairperson of the Block Development Council shall be held not later than three months after the constitution of Panchayats or six months after a casual vacancy occurs, as the case may be].
