Section 37: Powers of the prescribed authority to summon and enforce attendance of Witness and other persons.

The prescribed authority shall have the powers of a Civil Court under the [Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (5 of 1908)] while trying a suit, in respect of the following matters, namely :––
(1) summoning and enforcing attendance of the complainant or the person against whom complaint is made under this Act and witnesses required in connection therewith,
(2) compelling the production of any document, and
(3) examining witnesses on oath, and may summon and examine suo moto any person whose evidence appears to be material.
Explanation.—For purposes of enforcing the attendance of witnesses and other persons mentioned above, the local limits of the jurisdiction of the prescribed authority extends to the whole of the State.
