Section 4: Compulsory education up to class eighth.

The Jammu and Kashmir School Educ Ation Act, 2002Union territory Act of Jammu and Kashmir · Act 21 of 2002

The Government shall provide for free and compulsory education for children up to the level of class eighth throughout the [Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir] within a period of ten years from the commencement of this Act and for this purpose it shall take appropriate steps to provide the necessary facilities.
